The story follows a Chinese People’s Volunteer Army squad that is preparing to withdraw from the front lines. Instead of retreating, they receive a special, high-risk assignment and turn back into the smoke-filled combat zone. They engage in a fierce and brutal struggle against heavily armed foes to protect their homeland, resulting in heavy casualties for the unit.
